Qazvin Electric Distribution Company, General Information
Utilization of electric power in geographical limits of Qazvin Electric power Distribution Company began in 1310 (1931). In the beginning electricity was supplied by private sector through generator.
After the establishment of water and electricity ministry in the year 1343 (1964) Qazvin Power Plant with five generator sets with the power of 2,500 kilowatt which was under Tehran Electric was connected to national grid. The early 1372 according to the Power Ministry policies on forming Distribution Company in the figure of Distribution Company became responsible for supplying and distributing electricity in Qazvin geographical vicinity. In 1386 independence of the distribution company was declared and functioning under the close supervision of TAVANIR. At present, this company has 567,000 customers which comprise 83 percent residential, 5% general, 10.5 percent commercial, 1 percent agricultural & 1 percent industrial.
From the consumed annual energy 19 percent is for residential, 8 percent general, 4 percent commercial, 20 percent agricultural, 47 percent industrial & 2 percent street lighting. All villages more than ten family inhabitants utilize electricity and at present 810 villages of Qazvin province are enjoying electricity as well as 4 villages and 2 holy shrines are utilizing energy through solar cell. Presently, provision of electricity to provincial consumers is carried out by six transmission substations, 33 units of 63 KV substations, 9,121 distribution substations and more than 120,000 kilometers network with the peak load of 614 megawatt.(despite the accomplishment of load management plans and balancing the peak load to the amount of 107 megawatts).
The headquarter of the company is located in Qazvin which consists of five departments namely Finance, Operation & Dispatching, Sales & Customer’s Service, Planning & Engineering, and Human resources. Other offices include Security & Protection, Public Relations, Law & Complaints, General Manager, and Board of Directors. In addition there are five power Distribution managements in Qazvin, Alborz, takestan, Buin Zarah, & Abeyek. There are also three power operational district in Qazvin ( South,North & Minoo Dar) with 15 sub offices which are located in Ardagh, Avaj, Shal, Danesfahan, Esfarvarin, Ziabad,Nahavand, Mahmoud Abad, Koohin, Kallaj, Egbalieh, Alamut, Razmian, Mohammadieh, Sharifieh.
